Riversdale Golf Course, Outlet Structure
Challenge
The biggest challenge with this job was the soil conditions. The geotechnical report identified loose, saturated soils with low bearing capacities, resulting in the need to use CFA piles. Supervision of the CFA piling highlighted the variability of the underlying soil profile, with anticipated capacities less than assumed.
Solution
This project required constant site supervision to verify foundation capacities. Due to the variability of the results, this challenge was solved by adopting a fluid construction process, with constant communication and liaison between all project disciplines. Visual assessment, testing, consultation and redesign became a daily part of the teamwork adopted on this project to ensure that a structurally viable solution was achieved.
