Wallan Vet Hospital
Challenge
There were two significant challenges with this project. Architecturally, the floor slab was positioned clerar above ground level and with overhangs in every direction, so achieving a cost effective and practical building solution was quite critical to this project. Secondly, it was important to understand the in-service functionality of the building, including the effect on long term performance of the building. This included the need to constantly wash down areas in the dog and cat wards, and to consider the effect of waste on the long term durability of construction materials.
Solution
The solution was to consult with the client for this project, to understand the in service operation of the building; and to transpose all of this acquired information, with consultation with the project architect, into feasible building solutions.
